Half Birthday

When I was a little girl, my sister would always mention she had a "half birthday". It is the date 6 months after your birthday that you turn __(insert number of age here)___ and a half. Little did I know until a conversation I had with her on her birthday (3 days ago...Happy Birthday again Jill!) that the reason she celebrated her half birthday was because her birthday is in the summer and so she couldn't bring treats to school. So some of the kids brought treats on their half birthdays so that everyone was able to celebrate and bring treats on their birthdays. I never knew that until now.

If Max would have been born on his due date, it would have been on my sister's 1/2 birthday!

But here we are! MAX IS 6 Months!!! I can't even believe that it is all going by so fast, yet I can barely remember my life without him.

Here are a few fun facts about him:

1. He is sitting up. He still topples over and doesn't quit get the entire balancing thing, but he does pretty well.

2. He loves chewing on EVERYTHING.

3. He is grabby. He grabs my hair and pulls (hard). He grabs my glasses off my face when I wear them. He grabs toys and brings them to his mouth. He is Mr. Grabby.

4. He is in 12 month clothing... and some of the shorts are a little snug

5. He wears size 3 and 4 diapers, but mostly 4's... we are not going to be wasteful of the 3's I still have.

6. He is in his big boy car seat which isn't fitting very well in my small Mazda Protege. It doesn't like to recline and his poor head falls forward when he falls asleep. It will be the bane of my existence for the next 6 months until he can face forward.

7. He moves! But isn't crawling yet. He can scoot all over the floor.

8. He loves to giggle, especially in the evening.

9. He finally eats rice cereal, and we have tried a few other foods!

10. He melts my heart every single day

Chris put him in his University of Utah onesie today. Ironically Max's half birthday is on the first day of Fall semester at the U. Maybe there is some foreseeing in the future. (Watch, he grow up and goes to another college south of here)

We had a low key day. Just played a little, watched a little Baby Einstein, napped very little (typical) and ate some cereal. And of course we had a little photo session.

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY MAX!!!

A Mover and A Shaker

My mom always says that Max is a "Mover and a Shaker". And he is. Even when he was in my belly, he was always moving constantly. He is very active. This morning I put him on his blanket for his floor time in this position:
And the next thing I know he is here:

I was trying to figure out how many rolls and twist he did to get all the way there. He is definitely active!

Here is proof that he is the ENTIRE length of his changing table!

Max has also started sitting up. He can sit up great if he is supported, and he is starting to learn to balance and sit up without support for short periods of time. But watch out! If he hits his head even slightly it is a big cry fest. He is a little bit of a Drama King.
Look at that 90 degree angle!

He's probably not supposed to sit in his bouncer chair like this (or even at all anymore since he probably exceeds the weight capacity and then some) But I can't resist putting him in it since he loves
it!

And here are a couple of videos

5 Months

Max is now 5 months. I can't get over how fast he is growing and time is flying. I was thinking 6 months isn't that long of a time period, I mean you go to the dentist every 6 months and it feels like not that much time in between (at least for me). But a baby goes through so much in a 6 month time period. It is crazy.
He is becoming more and more aware of the world around him. He coo's to himself all the time. He giggles and laughs lots. He also loves to blow "raspberries" with his mouth. He sounds like a little motor boat all the time.

He still doesn't like rice cereal all that much. So maybe I'll try some other foods to see if he is ready for them. He is plowing through formula these days, so as soon as he eats more than just formula all day, maybe he won't go through it so fast.

He can roll over from his tummy to his back, but I have yet to witness it. He usually just rolls from his back to his tummy and then rotates his body around while on his belly full 360 degree rotations. He just scoots his body around. And then when he is done he cries for mommy to roll him back over. Stinker.

Max has also found his feet!

Hmmm, what's this?
Looks tasty. Maybe I'll try it.
Oh ya! That is good stuff.
Yum Yum!

He is such a sweet boy! I can't believe how fast he is growing and developing. Each new baby stage is exciting, but you almost want time to stand still at he same time. Life really is SO short!
