I Hate the DMV

Not because they are employed by angry people (who may or may not have fangs and horns).

Not because you have to wait in line for hours on end.

Not because they are inconveniently located in the middle of nowhere.

Because they have FAILED to change my address after MULTIPLE attempts.

It all started when I bought my Mazda in 2002 (I can't believe it's been that long :') tear!). I allowed my vehicle registration to be sent to my parents house since I kept changing my apartment every other year.

Then I got married (4 years later) and I had to go down the the dreaded DMV to get a license with my married name. So I did that. There I changed my address.

Then I moved into my lovely condo. When it came time for Chris and I to register to vote, we went through the process of getting our Drivers Licenses changed to our new address. They made us put a stupid sticker on the back of it (like that is really official).

Then we both had to renew our licenses because the time had come. So they sent us new licenses with our real address.

Then last year, when it came time for me to register my vehicle... guess what showed up at my PARENTS HOUSE! That's right, my vehicle registration renewal with my MAIDEN name!

So I went DOWN to the DMV to get it all straightened out. After waiting in the line 30 minutes some lady told me I had to go through the drive thru and they would change my address and give me a new sticker there. When I went to the drive through, I never saw a person. I was speaking to a loud speaker through one of those bank-like tube systems facing a mirrored tinted window (to disguise the fangs and horns, I guess). I had to explain my situation twice... AND write my Address down on a piece of paper. I drove away thinking FINALLY it is done!

Boy was I wrong.

Guess what didn't show up THIS year. Not at my house, not at my Parents house. Where was my registration renewal form?? I am lucky I even remembered, but after 7 years of paying it in August I knew it was fast approaching.

So after many emails since the lame DMV is NO LONGER OPEN ON FRIDAY'S!! I finally figured out that they have my address wrong BY ONE LOUSY NUMBER. SO all my vehicle information is in the hands of one of my neighbors or lost in the mail. They won't let me register online either until my address is correct which is NOT MY FAULT!!! And my car is currently illegal (please don't tell the cops) until I can get this whole mess straightened out.

Needless to say, I have to make more calls to the DMV hopefully by tomorrow. But I have a sneaking suspicion that it still somehow won't be resolved even after my vehicle is registered and I am on my way for one more year...

This is exactly why I hate the DMV too!
I'm dreading having to renew my registration...
