Spring Boarding

So Saturday was "Bikini Beach Day" at Brighton. And I may actually have considered wearing my suit to get in for the low low price of $29, but I still had 3 passes I needed to burn. Luckily my friend Regina bought my last two. So we all decided to go. It was a blast to finally go one last time this season! (Brighton closed today.)

We met up with my friend Jen who is the primary reason that I learned to snowboard. She got a season pass with me the first year I learned and we would go every week. I knew that the only way I would get into snowboarding is if I:
A. Spent money on my own gear so I wouldn't have to rent. If I had to worry about the hassle of getting a rental, I definitely would never go.
B. Spend lots of money on a pass so that I would have to go a lot to get my money's worth.
So that is what I did. I bought some old gear from my old roommates visiting teacher and then I got a discount pass to Snowbird through my work. Believe me, after the first time I went I never wanted to go again! I went down the hill twice and it took me nearly 3 hours to do so. I also couldn't move the day after and had to call in sick to work. And I had two very large bruises on my knees because instead of falling backward on my butt like most people, I kept catching my front edge which would propel me forward onto my knees.

But I was determined to learn. After about 7-8 times, and a lot of patience from Jen... I finally started to carve and just took off from there. Now snowboarding is one of my favorite things.

Thanks Jen!

There were a few crazy people in their bikini's and we saw a couple of guys in speedo's. Toward the end of the day the snow became all melty and slushy and our boards kept sticking which really slowed us down. But it was a lot of fun anyway!

I am sad that this season has come to an end, but I had some great times and memories. I am now ready for the warm weather and sunshine!

Wow, Lisa, that looks awesome!

I wish the season would hold on just a little longer so I could carve a few turns. I hope to see you for your birthday!

Man that looked like fun...I'm bummed that I didn't go. Next year for sure... we'll just have to wakeboarding in the meantime. :)

That's cool you have such a passion for snowboarding! (And also, I still hate it.)
