Note to Self...

Never go to the grocery store when you are hungry!
(P.S. Am I the only one that goes to the grocery store and spends $100 on two people? Seriously... I was in line with people who spent $4-$20 and I was not in the express line! Guess I still need to get out of my college only-go-to-the-grocery-store-once-a-month mode!)

Spring Boarding

So Saturday was "Bikini Beach Day" at Brighton. And I may actually have considered wearing my suit to get in for the low low price of $29, but I still had 3 passes I needed to burn. Luckily my friend Regina bought my last two. So we all decided to go. It was a blast to finally go one last time this season! (Brighton closed today.)

We met up with my friend Jen who is the primary reason that I learned to snowboard. She got a season pass with me the first year I learned and we would go every week. I knew that the only way I would get into snowboarding is if I:
A. Spent money on my own gear so I wouldn't have to rent. If I had to worry about the hassle of getting a rental, I definitely would never go.
B. Spend lots of money on a pass so that I would have to go a lot to get my money's worth.
So that is what I did. I bought some old gear from my old roommates visiting teacher and then I got a discount pass to Snowbird through my work. Believe me, after the first time I went I never wanted to go again! I went down the hill twice and it took me nearly 3 hours to do so. I also couldn't move the day after and had to call in sick to work. And I had two very large bruises on my knees because instead of falling backward on my butt like most people, I kept catching my front edge which would propel me forward onto my knees.

But I was determined to learn. After about 7-8 times, and a lot of patience from Jen... I finally started to carve and just took off from there. Now snowboarding is one of my favorite things.

Thanks Jen!

There were a few crazy people in their bikini's and we saw a couple of guys in speedo's. Toward the end of the day the snow became all melty and slushy and our boards kept sticking which really slowed us down. But it was a lot of fun anyway!

I am sad that this season has come to an end, but I had some great times and memories. I am now ready for the warm weather and sunshine!

Fiber One = Not Much Fun

Fiber is good for you. It helps you to feel full longer, and improves the overall health in your gut. It is highly recommended to eat a diet rich in fiber.

So I decided to try these Fiber One bars, one because it was a healthier choice compared to some of the other snacks I eat. And two because my friend recommended them. She said they were really tasty. She was right, they are a great chocolate-y treat.
It took me a few days to realize the consequences of eating fiber. At first I thought I had recently become lactose intolerant because the same day I ate 2 bars, I had 2 glasses of chocolate milk (not something I drink regularly). It was only about 5 days later that I discovered the source of my severe bloating and pain was that of the Fiber One Bar.

The gas released from my body was putting my husbands gas to shame. The first few days of eating them I had off of work so I was able to relieve the pressure without being judged (thanks Chris!). But I made the mistake of eating one during a night shift at work. I visited the restroom about 7-8 times during that shift as my stomach was going wild and making all these weird noises as I tried to repress the release of gas. I also resulted in going into stairwells to help the problem. It was miserable and embarrassing!

Needless to say, I avoid the Fiber One Bar if I need to go anywhere public. While they are delicious, don't let them fool you. They are nasty little gas creating bombs!
