I remember reading somewhere that Dentist have the highest suicide rate of any profession. Really? Dentists? I mean they make lots of money, have dream hours (8-4, Tuesday-Friday or Monday-Thursday), and get to have dental hygienists do a lot of the dirty work. They just have to poke at some teeth and tell you whether it is good or needs to be drilled/crowned/root canal'ed.
So why the high suicide rate?
Hmm... maybe it is because everyone hates the dentist?
Most people associate pain and discomfort with the dentist. When you arrive at the exact time your appointment is, you ALWAYS end up in the waiting room. Even if, strangely, there is no one else waiting. Then you sit in a chair and have your teeth cleaned (miserable) as the dental hygienist lectures you that you should be flossing like 3 times a day (Ya right!) then the dentist comes in and inspects your teeth. Then you have to COME BACK to get more work done if there is problems. He is involved with bad news, shots, and drilling. PAIN PAIN PAIN.
So some people stay away for a while (Long time in Chris's case)
Then when you return with a massive toothache the dentist gives you really bad news, causes MORE pain, and then bleeds you dry with an insane bill. No wonder. It is depressing for all parties.

However, WE will continue to go... because we can't afford not to!
By the way... dental insurance is a joke. Thanks a lot for covering $40 of my crazy expensive bill. Glad I pay you regularly, every paycheck, for $40 and some teeth cleanings...

Yeah, me and the dentist are not friends. I STILL haven't scheduled my wisdom teeth removal, and in fact, I had forgotten about it before this post.

Ok, hear this. I opened your blog this morning and then I opened my friends blog this morning: http://www.shawneeandbrady.com/ AND then Matt and I both have a dentist appointment today! Wow what a coincidence! That was just weird, we were all thinking about the dentist on the same day!
LOL. Sorry about the bill. Isn't it crazy how expensive it is even WITH insurance? I just had oral surgery on Monday (a crown lengthening and an extraction of a baby tooth that never fell out on its own) and I am dreading getting the bill.
Ah, the dentist. Really interesting they have such a high suicide rate. I think I'd be okay inflicting pain on others and getting paid wicked good money for it.
dont hate. my grandpa was a dentist but he's dead now. and if you are wondering if he commited suicide, no, he died of a heart attack. i am just givin you a hard time, i dont like the dentist either. and the funny thing is, all my moms siblings (her dad was the dentist) have horrible teeth- minus my mom. go figure.
